The Kenneth F Weaver Trust set up to provide low-cost rental housing for pensioners. My charitable work today is a big part of my life. In 1973 Kenneth F Weaver saw a need for low-cost housing for over sixties who could not afford to pay for quality secure rental accommodation for them.
The trust was originally called the Glenora, now renamed Kenneth F Weaver Trust. The Trust received a loan from Housing Corporation to build 14 units in Abberley Crescent, St Albans. This was followed in 1982 by another 10 units in Barbadoes Street, Edgeware and in 2001 by 2 flats in Trist Place, Edgeware.
Initial rental for each unit was $11.75 for a single pensioner and $18.75 for a couple. In 2003 the rents were $71.00 per week. We take great pride in our immaculate grounds and gardens full of roses, come spring our tenants do us proud with their well-manicured gardens.
